North Kitsap’s Zach Fohn wins one, loses two at state meet

North Kitsap High sophomore Zach Fohn was eliminated from the Class 3A boys state tennis tournament after one win and two losses Friday. Fohn lost his opening match to Sammamish’s Dragos Puscalau, 6-1, 6-1. He won the next match, against Mt. Spokane’s Justin McClain, 6-2, 6-4, but fell to Hanford’s Luke Thompson, 7-5, 6-3 to end his run at the tournament.

Kingston’s Trevor Shuey and Richie Sander fall in two matches at state tourney

Kingston High doubles players Richie Sander and Trevor Shuey were eliminated from the Class 2A boys state tennis tournament Friday after losing their first two matches. The duo fell to Andrew Troutman and Kyle Buckham of Bellingham, 6-2, 6-2 in the opening match. They were sent home after a second-round loss to Wapato’s Greg Shank and Greg Strom, 7-6, 6-1.
