Kingston High takes home 10 medals at Liberty High Invitational

The Kingston High track and field team won 10 medals at the Liberty High School Invitational in Renton on Saturday. Medals are given to the top three finishers in each event. The girls team placed third in a field of seven, scoring a total of 101 points. Liberty High won the meet, scoring 221 points.

Kingston senior Jaime Schultz was named female athlete of the meet. She took first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.2 seconds, first in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 11.25 inches, and first in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 2.5 inches. Schultz was also part of the 4x200-meter relay team that took second place with a time of 1 minute, 55.6 seconds.

Kingston sophomore Marina Roberts placed first in the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters with times of 5:42.8 and 11:41.1, respectively. Freshman Sarah Wahl placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.1 seconds. Sophomore Phoebe Sinclair took third in the triple jump, with a distance of 29 feet, 3.5 inches.

The Kingston High boys team took seventh place in a field of eight teams at the meet, scoring 27 points. Liberty High placed first, with 185 points. Kingston junior Benjamin Hanson took first in the discus, throwing for a distance of 141 feet, 1 inch. Sophomore Joe Shoemaker was third in the javelin, with a distance of 146 feet, 8 inches.

Kingston’s next meet is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Port Townsend High School.

North Kitsap tops Klahowya

The North Kitsap High baseball team defeated Klahowya Friday, 4-0. No additional stats were reported.

FASTPITCH

North Kitsap falls to Klahowya

The North Kitsap High fastpitch team fell to Klahowya Friday, 13-2. Jacqui Hornbeck got the win for the Eagles. North Kitsap hosts Port Angeles at 4 p.m. today.

LACROSSE

North Kitsap falls to Klahowya

The North Kitsap boys lacrosse team fell to Klahowya Friday, 15-4. Nick Johanson led Klahowya with five goals. North Kitsap’s Eddy Matheson had two goals and goalkeeper Chazz Zacharof had eight saves.
