Kingston girls beat Bremerton

The Kingston High girls basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 52-40 win Tuesday at Bremerton High.

Sophia Baetz led the Buccaneers with 31 points and 11 rebounds. The Bucs (14-2 league, 15-5 overall) have two weeks off before entering the West Central District III playoffs, which begin March 3 at Foss High in Tacoma.

North Kitsap girls top North Mason

The North Kitsap High girls basketball team finished the 2009-10 season on a positive note, despite not making the playoffs. The Vikings topped North Mason Tuesday, 53-36.

Nicole Weber led the Vikings with 15 points. Lexi Simmons had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Lauryn Blevins added 10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals.

The Vikings began the season with a 1-7 record in December, but went 6-6 during the remaining portion of the season to finish at 7-13 overall and 7-9 in league play.

Viking boys end season on a loss

The North Kitsap High boys basketball team ended the 2009-10 season with a 61-44 loss at home to North Mason Tuesday. Brandyn Winkley led the Vikings with 11 points, and Austin Abrahamson added eight.

The Vikings lost lost seven of their last nine games this season to finish with a record of 5-11 in league play and a 6-14 overall mark.

“I had a good group of young men that played hard and gave me their all,” Head Coach Tony Chisholm said. “It’s unfortunate that we didn’t play up to our abilities all the time. It was like hit and miss. It was that type of season.”
