Basketball: Kingston girls beat defending state champs

The Kingston High School girls basketball team defeated defending 2A state champion Lynden High Dec. 30, 52-41.

Sophia Baetz led the scoring for Kingston, with 23 points. Laura Wicklein added eight points and eight rebounds.

The Buccaneers lost to Lynden Christian Dec. 29, 64-52.

Both games were part of the Lynden Christmas Tournament held at Lynden Christian. The Bucs host Sequim Tuesday at 7 p.m.
