North Kitsap's Baugh, Ottomano lead All-Kitsap volleyball squad

The All-Kitsap County Volleyball Team was compiled by the sports writers for the Bainbridge Review, Bremerton Patriot, Central Kitsap Reporter, North Kitsap Herald and Port Orchard Independent. Candidates for the team were nominated by the writers for their respective areas. The nominees were then voted on by the writers, with the top vote-getters making the team. The team includes the best players from area schools who not only performed well individually, but played a role in the success of their team as well.

The 2009 All-Kitsap County Volleyball Team:

OH/S — Sarah Baugh, sophomore, North Kitsap: As a floor captain on the Olympic League champion North Kitsap team, Baugh led the Viking offense with 220 kills, 249 assists, 123 digs and 33 aces in the regular season. Her outstanding play also won her the title of Olympic League Most Valuable Player.

OH — Asha Hill, junior, Central Kitsap: The 5-foot-6 Hill led Central Kitsap with 243 kills, adding 261 digs and 28 aces to help the Cougars to third place in the Narrows League.

OH — Taylor Ottomano, senior, North Kitsap: The ambidextrous Ottomano was the Vikings’ second leading hitter with 183 kills during the regular season and 70 more in the postseason. Her regular season stats also included 22 blocks and 66 digs. With a kill percentage of 57, she was a constant threat up front.

MB — Alexis Wesley, junior, Central Kitsap: The 6-foot Wesley was Central Kitsap’s second-leading finisher, posting 167 kills to go with a Narrows League-best 79 blocks. Wesley's tall frame made her a force at the net.

L — Amy Stone, senior, Olympic: An accurate passer and formidable attacker, Stone finished the regular season with 39 kills, 32 assists, 81 aces and a team-high 274 digs. Coach Keith Peden called Stone’s serve “deadly,” adding she “is one of the best I have ever coached as far as volleyball IQ goes.”

S — Chelsea Brustad, senior, Olympic: Arguably her team’s most well-rounded player, Brustad tallied 425 assists, 104 digs, 32 aces and 23 kills for the Trojans. Recognized as a hard worker and team leader, Brustad used solid defense as well as a tough serve to anchor Olympic.

Bryana Bohl, senior, North Kitsap; Jordan Denning, senior, North Kitsap; Andrea Johnson, junior, Kingston; Kyla Miedema, senior, Kingston; Jordan Tapp, senior, Kingston; Claire Torstenbo, senior, North Kitsap.
