The Kingston High School girls soccer team will move on to the second round of the West Central District III playoffs after defeating Eatonville, 2-1, Thursday in Kingston.

The Buccaneers will face two-time defending state champion Fife Saturday at Silverdale Stadium. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

Play was stopped during the second half Thursday night when power to the stadium lights at Buccaneer Field went out. The power was turned back on after about a 30-minute delay.

The Bucs scored first against Eatonville, midway through the first half when forward Jaime Schultz collided with Eatonville’s goalkeeper on her way to the net. Kingston would score again, midway through the second half, on a shot by sophomore Alexis Ekonomakis, putting the Bucs up 2-0. With 20 minutes remaining, Eatonville responded with its only goal of the night.

Kingston must win Saturday against Fife to secure a state tournament berth.
