Sports briefs: Vikings stun Cougars on volleyball court

VOLLEYBALL

North Kitsap scored a big win Wednesday over Central Kitsap, beating the Cougars in four sets. The Vikings won with scores of 25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 25-13. It was the first time in six years that North Kitsap had beaten CK.

“When you can beat a quality team coached by a local legend in Gordy Bushaw, you’ve really accomplished something,” North Kitsap Head Coach Tim French said.

Taylor Ottomano led the Vikings with 24 kills. Teammate Sarah Baugh had a triple-double, with 16 kills, 27 assists and 10 digs. The win bumped the Vikings’ record to 9-2 overall.
