Sports briefs: Viking Cup meeting set for Thursday
Viking Cup meeting this Thursday
The North Kitsap Soccer Club will host a meeting regarding the future of Viking Cup from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Zone Sportsplex in Poulsbo. The annual tournament is a fundraiser for the club, but was canceled this year due to conflicts with the state select soccer schedule. Anyone interested in presenting opinions, suggestions or concerns regarding the future of the tournament is encouraged to attend. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
North Kitsap and Kingston high schools competed in the Salt Creek Invitational Saturday in Port Angeles.
The NKHS girls varsity team finished first out of 15 teams, and the boys finished second out of 20 teams. Results are listed with placing first, followed by the runner’s name and time.

Bainbridge Island 33, Kingston 0
Kingston High was shut out at Bainbridge Friday, thanks largely to 21 Buccaneer penalties, many of which were mental errors, said Kingston Head Coach Dan Novick.
“Our effort level has got to increase, especially from a tackling standpoint,” Novick said.
The Bucs Eatonville High Sept. 25 at the North Kitsap Stadium.
Timberline 52, North Kitsap 6
North Kitsap kept it close for one quarter, before Timberline High ran away with Friday’s game. The Vikings host Yelm High School Sept. 26 at the NK Stadium.
