Vikings headed to state
The North Kitsap High School baseball team earned a state berth Tuesday after defeating Mt. Rainier 14-6 at the West Central District 3 playoffs in Puyallup.
The Vikings took a 10-0 lead after three at-bats, behind strong pitching from Andy Smith and stellar hitting by the entire offense. North's next game is Saturday at Auburn Mountainview High School, against Columbia River.

North Kitsap 5, Bremerton 2
The Vikings finished the regular season on a high note, beating the only Olympic League team that had tied them previously. Jon Kidder had a hat trick in the win. North heads into the district playoffs Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

The Vikings can still clinch the second spot in the district playoffs if they win Thursday at Klahowya and next week against Olympic.
