Lil’ NK Explosion wins it all

The Lil’ NK Explosion select soccer team, coached by Sean Lloyd and Vladimir Sokol, won all five of its games at the Marysville Strawberry Classic Tournament Aug. 1-3, to win it all. The Lil’ Explosion swept four games, 3-0, 8-0, 7-0, and 10-0, and the boys were in first place heading into the finals game against Pacific Premier Red. The Lil’ Explosion won the finals, 5-2. This is the Explosion’s second tournament win of the season, having also taken first place honors in the Poulsbo Viking Cup. Next stop is the Snohomish Bigfoot Tournament Aug. 14-17.

2008 Fall men’s hardball league

The NABA Westsound League is kicking off a fall baseball league for adults. Anyone 18 and over as of Sept. 7 with any and all skill levels are invited to come and tryout for one of the fall teams.

The fall league format will be an eight game season plus playoffs, three team minimum, max r-ster of 12 players per team, no player additions after deadline unless injury, all games played on Saturdays and/or Sundays, all games seven innings, NABA rules of “N/R” and substitutions, mercy rule for all games after five innings, double header schedule to make up for odd number of teams, 18 and over open teams.

Cost is $195 per player, which covers insurance, umpires, field rentals, etc. All games will be played at Legion Field and North Kitsap Babe Ruth. Tryouts will be held for all players and existing summer players who’ve not been placed on a fall team.

Fall league tryouts are as follows: Aug. 23 12-2 p.m. and Aug. 24 12-2 p.m. at Snider Park, Poulsbo.

A tryout fee of $10 will be collected prior to participation. Full payment of league fees and signed contract prior to tryouts will be required. Players should bring spikes (metal OK), glove, baseball attire (no shorts, sweats or jeans), hat, and their own wood bat.

It’s tennis time at North Kitsap High School
