DUVALL — The North Kitsap Vikings were the first of two victims of the Lake Washington Kangaroos May 24.

The Kangaroos defeated the Vikings 13-3 in the first round of the 2A State Baseball Regionals. The loss knocked the Vikings out of the tournament.

The Kangaroos earned 12 runs in the third inning to secure the win and advance to the quarterfinals.

The Vikings’ season ended with a 14-10 record. They won the Olympic League championship and placed fourth during districts.

Following the win over the Vikings, the Kangaroos squashed the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 10-0 the same day.

Archbishop Murphy, the No. 3 seed from District 1/2, reached the quarterfinal game by beating Fife 3-2 in the first round. The Wildcats, attempting to reach the final four for the third straight year, finished their season 17-9.

The Klahowya Eagles, the only other team that survived to see state, was eliminated 2-1 by Centralia in the first round.

Along with the Kangaroos, Anacortes, Ellensburg, and Tum-water remain. The four teams play in the semifinals May 30 and finish the tournament May 31.
