NK hitters bring home win over Trojans | Baseball
SILVERDALE — The Olympic League leaders suffered their second loss of the season to the North Kitsap Vikings April 14.
The Vikings varsity team defeated the Olympic Trojans 12-7.
North Kitsap's Nash Gowin led in RBIs, in the heavy-hitting game. Brady Brann and Connor Green each earned two RBIs.
The Vikings outscored the Trojans 6-3 in the first three innings, which left the home team with some catching up to do.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Trojans scored twice. However, they came up short in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Up 8-6 in the top of the sixth, the Vikings sealed the victory with three runs. They made their 12th and final run of the game in the seventh.
North Kitsap's Kole Milyard was the winning pitcher. Milyard struck out two, walked four, allowed seven hits and six runs. Chase Bauer relieved Milyard for two innings, striking out two, and allowing two hits and a run.
The win boosts the Vikings (5-2) to third, above the North Mason Bulldogs (4-3). The Trojans (6-2) and Sequim Wolves (6-2) are tied for first.
The Vikings varsity team plays the Kingston Buccaneers April 15 at the Kingston fields. First pitch is 4:15 p.m.
The Bucs (2-4) are recovering from a 7-1 loss to Port Angeles, April 14.
