Look at ’em go — Kingston Running Club announces Fourth of July fun run winners
The Kingston Running Club and Kitsap Running and Walking Co. recently announced the overall winners of the Kingston 4th of July Fun Run.
During the inaugural run 114 runners and walkers enjoyed the five kilometer course and helped raise more than $600 for each Kingston High School and North Kitsap High School cross country teams.
Men’s overall winners: Justin Doud, 17 minutes, 37 seconds; Jansen Falen, 17:44; Michael Casad, 18:03.
Boys 10 and under: Alex Winn; 23:49, Ethan Fox, 30:21; Alex Barrett, 31:44. Boys 11-14: Wade Doty, 21:41; Quinn Jackson, 22:50; Ryan Ogden, 23:51. Boys 15-19: Ben Stamper, 18:40; Nick Schippers, 18:57; Andrew Michak, 20:58. Men 20-29: Jordan Reyes, no time. Men 30-39: Brian Yahey, 23:52; Gregg Platz, 24:26; Saleem Shafi, 24:29. Men 40-49: Matthew Copus, 20:24; Ted Schmid, 20:50; Jeff Cowan, 21:02. Men 50-59: Peter Roberts, 22:23; Greg Otto, 26:19; Dana Thompson, 27:15. Kitsap Post 68 still on a winning roll
On Thursday the Kitsap Post 68 baseball team defeated Graham Kapowsin, 6-2.
Chris Jones and Josh Horst pitched and Reuben Smith caught. Jones pitched seven innings, giving up only two runs, three hits and tallying five strikes. Horst threw the remaining two innings, giving up one hit and tallying one strike. From the plate Jones, two hits; Kramer Uvila, two hits; Eric Eley, two hits; Jordan Green, Bradely Durham and Daniel Orr each had an RBI.
Yesterday the Post played a double header against the Bethel Huskies at Legion Field. Results were not available at press time.
NK Vikings football camp starts July 14
Camp runs Monday through Thursday July 14-17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for eighth through 12th graders. Cost is $50, a T-shirt is provided. Registration begins July 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the NK Stadium, which is where the camp’s held. Equipment will be provided, but campers need to bring cleats, sun screen and extra water.
