Baseball: Vikes eliminated at State tourney

YELM — After eliminating Sedro-Woolley from the state tournament, the North Kitsap Vikings were eliminated in-turn.

The Tumwater Thunderbirds defeated the Vikes 3-0 May 18 during the second round of the 2A State Baseball Tournament.

The Thunderbirds advance to the final two rounds of the State tournament, played at Yakima’s County Stadium. They are guaranteed at least a fourth place finish.

The loss to the Thunderbirds preceded a 4-3 win over Sedro-Woolley May 18.

The Olympic Trojans were the only other team from the Olympic League to advance to State. The Trojans were eliminated in the first round, losing 4-2 to W.F. West.

The other teams vying for the state championship are Archbishop Murphy, Clarkston, and W.F. West. The final four teams play Friday, May 24. The final day of the state tournament is May 25.
