The Kingston and North Kitsap varsity teams had all but secured seeds to the West Central District III tournament before the final regular-season games Feb. 8.
There are no real surprises that the boys’ and girls’ teams from both schools advanced to their respective post-season tournaments.
The Buccaneer girls team, however, was able to pull off one last upset to finish the regular season.
The Bucs defeated the Bremerton Knights at home Feb. 8. The fifth-place Bucs sent the second-place Knights home with a 50-46 loss. The Bucs outscored the Knights 31-16 in the first half. The Knights outscored the Bucs 30-19 in the second.
The win improved the Buccaneers’ record to 7-9 in the Olympic League.
The Bucs were eliminated from the post-season Tuesday.
