KINGSTON — An early lead kept the Kingston Buccaneers varsity team ahead of the North Kitsap Vikings just enough to pull off a win Jan. 28.

The Bucs defeated the Vikings 51-48.

Leading 30 to North Kitsap's 13 in the first half, the Bucs scored a mere five points in the third and came back with 16 points in the fourth.

Kingston's Katelyn Carper led the way, outscoring all other players on the court with 21 points.

North Kitsap's Kristin Brown earned 16 points.

Though they rallied back in the second half, the Vikings could not find the basket in the first. The Vikings scored three points in the first quarter.

The two teams meet against Feb. 1 in the North Kitsap High School Gymnasium. Junior Varsity starts at 5:15 p.m., Varsity starts at 7 p.m.
