Bucs defeat Anacortes in first game at Hardwood Classic | State basketball

YAKIMA — The Kingston Buccaneers boys basketball team remains in the running for the 2A state title.

The Bucs defeated Anacortes 62-57 Thursday in the first game of the 2A tournament in the Yakima Valley SunDome. The Bucs play Lynden Friday at 7:15 p.m.

With the win, the Bucs secure at least a fifth-place finish in the state tournament and remain contenders for first place. The winner of the Kingston/Lynden game will play Saturday at 3 p.m. for a shot at first/second place. The losing team will drop to a consolation bracket for a shot at third/fifth, to be played Saturday at 1 p.m.

Lynden is now 20-5 overall in its season. Lynden defeated Pullman 40-30 following the Kingston/Anacortes game. The Bucs are now 23-5 overall.
