FRISCO, COLO. — Keith Johnson of Poulsbo finished second at the 2012 U.S. National Snowshoe Championships Feb. 25. It is the second silver medal for the former North Kitsap High School French teacher and tennis coach.
Johnson earned the medal in the 65-69 age division. He qualified for the championships by finishing first in the Mount Shasta qualifying race Jan. 29.
The former NKHS teacher and coach said he has found snowshoeing to be an "excellent cross-training sport." Along with his winter-weather sporting passion, he has also stayed involved in United States Tennis Association senior tennis events.
He will try for a third medal next season during the national championships, which will be held in Bend, Ore.
