New mayor greets year with humility, hope

As we start a new year, I am looking forward to beginning my work at City Hall with excitement, a long to-do list, and with humility. I am grateful to the many citizens of Poulsbo who elected me to the position of mayor.

Poulsbo’s historic downtown and beautiful environment may be our community’s most visible charms, but I have knocked on the doors of your homes and I know the special sense of place in our neighborhoods. I appreciate and understand the diversity of businesses that have been built in our town — the shops and cafés where groups gather to exchange the news of the day. Even in these tough economic times, Poulsbo moves forward with courage, pride and compassion for others. Poulsbo is a representation of who we are; the spirit we demonstrate as we care for one another and work toward the common good.

I am deeply honored by your faith in me, and, with your help, I am ready to work to preserve, protect, and strengthen this wonderful city of ours. From my family, may your new year be bright, healthy, and full of promise.

Becky Erickson

Mayor of Poulsbo
