Supports MacIntyre for Kingston Port Commission

Again, Kingston is fortunate to have two excellent candidates running for Port Commission. Both gentlemen are well educated and clearly understand the Port’s stated mission of economic development.

Fulfilling that mission involves a good understanding of all the taxpayers, businesses, service groups etc. in our community — not just the users of the Port facilities. Port districts have unique tools available to them to stimulate and/or partner with for the good of everyone in their area.  Our next port commissioner needs to make sure the direction of the Port is in alignment with, and supports the goals of, our entire community.

We are supporting Bruce MacIntyre because:

1. He brings to the table a broad background in business, education and law.

2. These skill sets will nicely complement those of our current port commissioners.

3. He is open-minded and listens well to various points of view. Since his retirement, he has devoted time to our community and attended many of our various community group meetings like the Kingston Citizens Advisory Council, the Chamber of Commerce, Port of Kingston and Greater Kingston Economic Development Council meetings, which is extremely important for a candidate or a commissioner to better gauge the overall pulse of the community.

4. He has researched the last five years of the Port’s books and has identified opportunities for action.

He is already spending the time and doing the work — please give him your vote.

Dave and Ann Wetter
