Supports Worthington for NKSD, District 3
As a former North Kitsap School Board member, I understand the commitment of time and energy required to effectively serve on the board. Fortunately, we have a candidate for District 3, Beth Worthington, who is qualified and prepared to give that commitment.
Beth understands the importance of involving the community in creating a plan for the future of the district and its students and setting goals that can be measured annually. If parents had been consulted and involved in changing the Parent Assisted Learning (PAL) program, perhaps the district wouldn’t have lost 100 students from that program.
Beth believes that a board’s decision is not complete until the community understands the rationale behind it, and that the board also needs to understand what the community’s values and needs are.
I first worked with Beth in the 1990s, gathering signatures for I-728 (small class size). She will work to find the funding to reduce class sizes in all schools. She has attended board meetings, met with administrators and board members, and has been door-belling neighborhoods to gather input and prepare to serve on the board.
Beth believes the community should be involved in planning what should be included in a renewal levy and then kept informed as to how the district is spending those levy funds. Beth wants to help set priorities as to how future increases in state funding will be spent, so that the board becomes proactive rather than reactive.
Please join me in voting for Beth Worthington.
