A storm of pork in Hurricane Sandy bill
January 11, 2013 · Updated 2:48 PM
House Speaker John Boehner has been getting a lot of criticism for not allowing a vote on the $60 billion “Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill.” The media is asking why Mr. Boehner could be so “cold hearted,” but have you seen the bill?
According to the Wall Street Journal:
— Only $30 billion of the $60 billion bill goes to Hurricane Sandy relief.
— $17 billion goes to “community development.” Really? Community development of what and where?
— $2 million goes to repair a roof at the Smithsonian, which has nothing to do with Hurricane Sandy.
— $150 million goes to “Alaska Fisheries.” Are you kidding me?! How much “pork” can taxpayers tolerate?
Please contact your U.S. representative and senator and ask them to take all the useless “pork” out of the Hurricane Sandy Bill.
