Believes ex-police clerk’s sentence was light

December 6, 2012 · Updated 2:59 PM

In your story dated Nov. 29 on Amanda Dixon (“Former police clerk gets 18 months,” page A1), you stated that she received 18 months for stealing guns from the Poulsbo Police Department, plus she molested a 15-year-old boy.

The question is: What would be the sentence for a 23-year-old male who molested a 15-year-old girl and stole guns from the Police Department? I am betting you would not see this young man until he was maybe 60 years old.

Is this fair?

Editor’s note: Dixon agreed to enter a plea to charges of attempted theft of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
