More good reasons to shop locally

April 20, 2012 · Updated 4:18 PM

I am the owner of American Rose Bridal in Poulsbo. I feel I need to warn the public about an occurrence that has been becoming more and more frequent.

Daily we have customers walking into our store, looking to replace an inferior product purchased elsewhere online. Most of them think they are going to save money by ordering a dress, or other item, online for a few dollars less. When it arrives (if it arrives) it is the wrong color, wrong size, inferior quality, or late. Then they end up coming to us. We can not fix their problem, but we can sell them a new item.

We just wish people would save their money and come to us first. If you order online, the problems are all yours. If you order through a local store, they will handle any problems.

Most people also don’t realize that when they order online and the item doesn’t fit properly they are going to have a hard time finding someone to do alterations on it, and it could cost more than the original price they paid for the garment.

A lot of people also think they are getting a designer brand online, when it is just a cheap knock-off.

Please shop local. Not only will you save money and stress, you are supporting a local business and keeping your dollars in your community.
