Not expecting much from Legislature

January 20, 2012 · Updated 9:44 AM

The old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity applies to the state Legislature and those citizens who voted for them.

We have the same players in Olympia who drove us into this mess, and now we expect them to change? It ain’t gonna happen.  Recall that the governor called a special session this past autumn due to our dire financial straits.  What happened? Not much. Our legislators settled on a 25 percent package reduction by using gimmicks, not real savings. Then they declared victory and went home.

Yet, in the last four years, the Legislature has passed more than $2.5 billion in higher taxes and fees. And now the Democrats are recommending an increased sales tax and, when that expires, a state income tax.

I expect nothing good from our Legislature this session. It will be more of the same whining about not having enough money and how we taxpayers have to give them more.
