Help Sound Works continue to help Kitsap

Help — it’s busy as a beehive in here. Every available computer station is occupied by a Poulsbo or Kitsap County resident pursuing a stage of his or her job search.

Personally greeting each newcomer through the door, the director, busy at his desk, inquires how he can be of assistance, then responds accordingly.

I am grateful to be able to use this service. I am glad, as well, for my neighbors that this service is ready and available when they, too, find themselves seeking employment.

Sound Works Job Center, a non-profit, no-fee job placement service and a partner of Bremerton Worksource, is located in Poulsbo, kitty-corner across Iverson from the Poulsbo Library. Sound Works operates under the direction of Bob Middlebrook. Throughout the day, this Santa Claus look-alike (without the red suit but with similar generous spirit) expertly guides one job searcher after another — listening to each thoughtfully, answering job search-related inquiries, assisting with resume development and coaching soon-to-be interviewees. To keep this service available in our community, Bob pursues grants and encourages individual donations.

Like many of my unemployed neighbors, I have traveled from Poulsbo to Bremerton Worksource regularly to learn from their experts the current expectation of employers for resume preparation and job-search techniques. The challenges: for one without current income, the cost of gas to travel from Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island to Bremerton limits doing so regularly. Bus travel time from Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island is lengthy, consuming valuable job search time. Fortunately, I learned of Sound Works and can come here regularly to pursue work while saving precious dollars and time.

Please help Sound Works Job Center serve residents of North Kitsap County. I am making a donation today and encourage my fellow Kitsap County residents to do so also. Your individual donation of $1, $2, $5, $25 or more can be sent to Sound Works Job Center, P.O. Box 2019, Poulsbo, WA. 98370.

Thank you for helping support the service of Sound Works in our community
