Fireworks season is back upon us. Now would be a great time for the North Kitsap Herald to remind readers of the Kitsap County codes regarding fireworks.

10.48.010 Discharge restricted.

Discharge of consumer fireworks in the unincorporated portion of Kitsap County is restricted to July 4 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Exception: Discharge by public display may be conducted if permitted and authorized pursuant to Section 10.48.014.

Fines and punishment:
1.12.010 Adopted.

Any person violating any of the provisions or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements of the resolutions or ordinances of Kitsap County is guilty of a misdemeanor. Any person convicted of a misdemeanor under the resolutions or ordinances of Kitsap County shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000, and/or by imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, unless otherwise required by the laws of Washington. Each such person is guilty of a separate offense for each and every day during any portion of which any violation of any provision of the resolutions or ordinances of Kitsap County is committed, continued or permitted by any such person, and he or she shall be punished accordingly.
