Thanks for support of burn benefit

Once again, I would like to thank those who gave to our annual “Give Burns the Boot” drive. This drive benefits the Northwest Burn Foundation and every dime is used to support young burn survivors and their families who live here in the Northwest. Serious burns can cause lifelong scars, both physical and emotional. Our community gave generously to provide young burn survivors the opportunity to attend a week-long summer camp.

In spite of the challenging economic times, donations raised the last two years were our largest amounts ever. On Oct. 16, Firefighters, office personnel, and department family members donated their time to canvass local stores with boots and requests for donations.

Poulsbo Fire would like to thank Taco Bell for donating lunch for all our volunteers and we also thank Central Market, Red Apple, and Albertsons for allowing us to stand outside their doors with our boots. Thank you to all the local businesses who have allowed us to place donation boxes in their stores.

Finally, thank you, the community. With your generous donations, several children will be able to enjoy a wonderful camp experience this summer and families will receive assistance with emergency housing when their loved one receives treatment at the burn center.
