After reading Jack Shubic's letter about homeowners taking the burden for the new community center in Kingston, I agree. Having been a homeowner in Kingston for just shy of 20 years, I do not think it is fair that the home owners take the burden for something which I agree is a great addition to Kingston's community needs. At this point I feel like homeowners take too much of the burden. I have worked hard to maintain home ownership for many years and this just becomes discouraging. It almost seems we should can the ideal of home ownership and just become renters to avoid the unfair shift in taxing. If all of folks will be able to use the park and community center, seems the right thing to do would be for all to share in the cost and not the minority (homeowners). The raising of sales tax seems a reasonable solution.
