There are truly not enough words to express our gratitude to the many supporters who contributed so generously to the Kathleen Sutton Fund’s 12th annual auction on Oct. 4. It was a beautiful day in Port Gamble at the Pavilion that more than 250 guests attended this great event.

I am writing to express my views on I-594. I am not going to make unfounded claims supporting this proposal but will endeavor to ask some questions designed to make the voters think about this before casting their vote.
Requiring a criminal background check before selling a gun in Washington will not eliminate all gun violence here. But passing Initiative 594 will reduce gun-related injuries and crime has it has in other states that require similar background checks.
These days in politics, especially since the mid-terms are just around the corner, there doesn’t seem to be much bipartisan camaraderie out there. There isn’t even that much camaraderie within parties, as Democratic nominees are distancing themselves from the President and his low approval ratings. This less-than-friendly political environment begs the question: Can we come together over anything anymore?
Ed Wolfe is sounding more and more like a lobbyist for the realtors and home builders. They, of course, are the ones funding his campaign. I’m reminded of the old saying: “When you get to the ball, you’re expected to dance with the one who brought you.”
