Kilmer endorsed by Council of Police and Sheriffs

GIG HARBOR — State Sen. Derek Kilmer, 6th Congressional District candidate, has been endorsed by the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs.

“Sen. Kilmer is a legislator with a proven record of achieving bipartisan solutions that protect the public's safety and safeguard the welfare of law enforcement officers and their families,” said Jamie Daniels, executive director of WACOPS. “We believe he will make a great congressman.”

Kilmer is one of seven candidates in the 6th District, which includes Kitsap County effective Jan. 3. Kitsap County residents will vote for a 6th District congressman, as well as someone to complete the term vacated by 1st District congressman Jay Inslee, who’s running for governor. The winner of that race will serve until Jan. 3.

Kilmer is the only Democrat in the race. Of the other candidates, five are Republicans and one is an Independent. The two top vote-getters in the Aug. 7 primary advance to the Nov. 6 general election.

Kilmer (www.DerekKilmer.com) has also been endorsed by the Pierce County Deputy Sheriffs Guild, Jefferson County Sheriff Anthony Hernandez, Kitsap County Sheriff Steve Boyer, Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist, Jefferson County Prosecutor Scott Rosekrans, and Kitsap County Prosecutor Russ Hauge.
