February 25, 2010 · Updated 4:50 PM
Ferry riders on the Seattle-Bainbridge route should expect delays Sunday morning due to heavy bicycle traffic from the Chilly Hilly Bicycle Classic.
Vehicles will be loaded and off-loaded prior to bicycles on Seattle sailings at 7:55 a.m., 8:45 a.m., and 10:35 a.m.
According to Washington State Ferries, more than 3,000 bicyclists attend the Chilly Hilly Bicycle classic annually.
Chilly Hilly has been named "One of Four Classic Rides” in the nation by Bicycling Magazine.
The 33-mile route ends with a chili feed to support Squeaky Wheels Biking Club. For more information, visit www.cascade.org or www.squeakywheels.org.
At the finish line there will be music, food, wine, beer and an exhibit featuring Bainbridge Island as an arts and cultural destination from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Bainbridge Commons. For more information visit www.islanders4arts.com.
