A head-on collision closed Viking Way for more than an hour Wednesday evening.

The collision occurred at about 7 p.m. between Scandia Road and State Route 308. Poulsbo Fire and Kitsap County Sheriff's deputies responded.

Poulsbo Fire spokeswoman Jody Matson said a 19-year-old Poulsbo woman was motoring north on Viking Way in a Ford Taurus when a southbound SUV crossed the centerline and struck her vehicle. The SUV was driven by a 44-year-old Silverdale woman.

Both drivers were taken to Harrison Medical Center for evaluation, but Matson said neither appeared seriously injured.

"Miraculously, both were only minor injuries," Matson said.

The vehicles sustained severe front end damage and were towed.

Viking Way was closed until 8:30 p.m. and traffic was diverted along Scandia Road.
