Cancer center to open

Harrison Medical Center’s new one-stop medical oncology and chemotherapy center in Poulsbo is set to open to patients by referral July 1.

The center, located on 10th Avenue, will hold an open house for community members July 29, from 3 to 7 p.m.

The center focuses on organic flow, warm color and comforting design to create a “refined environment of hope and healing” for cancer patients, a Harrison press release stated.

“We’re providing comprehensive cancer care close to home,” said Ken Rarey, director of Radiation and Poulsbo Oncology. “At this new center, we have the ability to provide whole-person care in an outpatient setting. This is a healing environment in your own community.”

The 4,850 square-foot center is staffed by two medical oncologists, Ann Murphy, MD, and Dennis Willerford, MD, and an oncology-experienced nurse practitioner, Kristen Province, ARNP.

The center will also have four oncology-certified registered nurses, medical technologists, laboratory technologists, and support staff for a multifaceted team of 14 employees.
