The Kitsap County Auditor's Office has extended the filing period for candidates interested in running for the North Kitsap School District's open director district 3 position. The new filing period begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. and ends Thursday at 5 p.m. The Auditor's Office decided to extend the filing period after Sharon Ferguson of Suquamish, the only candidate, dropped out of the race. The district 3 position is currently held by Melanie Mohler, who is not seeking re-election.

In addition, Jim Martin, the only candidate to file to run against district 1 director Tom Anderson, has dropped out of that race.

For additional information, or to file as a candidate, contact the Kitsap County Auditor's Office at (360) 337-7128 or the NKSD Superintendent's Office at (360) 779-8702.
