Islander arrested for alleged possession of heroin

A 36-year-old Bainbridge Island man was charged with possession of heroin, a felony, after police allegedly found him asleep in a vehicle parked in Poulsbo with a pipe containing heroin in his hand.

Jeremy Joshua Larose was arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail on Saturday, May 31.

According to the statement of probable cause in the case, police were called to a parked car near Stottlemeyer and Gunderson roads for a welfare check on a man who was seen sleeping in a Honda Accord parked in a turnout on Stottlemeyer Road just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

An officer found Larose asleep in the driver's seat, with a butane torch in his lap and a glass pipe in his left hand.

The officer spoke with Larose, who allegedly admitted to using the torch to smoke heroin earlier that morning.

An officer searched Larose's jacket after he was arrested for use of drug paraphernalia, and police found another glass pipe as well as a small plastic bag that contained a crystalline substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine.

Larose was booked into jail after his arrest; bail was set at $35,000.

Possession of heroin carries a maximum sentence of five years and a $10,000 fine upon conviction.
