46th ANNUAL VIKING FEST

FRIDAY, MAY 16
Noon to 10 p.m.: Food/Craft Booths open on Anderson Parkway. Carnival opens at King Olav Parking Lot until 10 p.m. Viking Village and Suquamish Arts & Crafts open in MIW Waterfront Park.

Entertainment schedule
4-4:45 p.m.: Opening Ceremony, Kvelstad Pavilion in MIW Waterfront Park:
Presentation of the Colors.
Norwegian National Anthem, Poulsbo Sons of Norway Men’s Chorus.
U.S. National Anthem.
Welcome by Mayor Becky Erickson and County Commissioner Robert Gelder.
— Introduction and welcome of Viking Fest’s title sponsor, Safeway.
— Welcome by David Rice, president of the Poulsbo Sons of Norway.
Introduction of 2014 Miss Viking Fest and her court, Little Miss Viking Fest, Miss West Sound, Miss West Sound Outstanding Teen, and Miss Poulsbo.
— Norwegian songs, sung by the Sons of Norway Men’s Chorus.

5-6 p.m.: Poulsbo Sons of Norway Leikarringen Dancers.

6-6:30 p.m.: Music by The Iverson Brothers.

6:30-7:45 p.m.: Music by Betsy & the Boys.

8-10 p.m.: Music by the Missy G Band.

SATURDAY, MAY 17
7 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 42nd annual Poulsbo Noon Lions’ Pancake Breakfast, at North Kitsap High School. All proceeds benefit the Lions’ NKHS Scholarship Fund.

7:30-11 a.m.: 31st annual Viking Fest Road Race, sponsored by Poulsbo Parks and Recreation Department.
— 7:30-8:45 a.m:. Check in at Lions Park.
9 a.m.: Start of 5-Mile Run.
9:05 a.m.: Start of 1-Mile Run.
10:15 a.m.: Start of Kids Dash on Front Street.
— 10:30 a.m.: Road Race Awards at Parade Reviewing Stand.

10 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Viking Village and Suquamish Arts & Crafts open in MIW Waterfront Park.

10 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Food/Craft Booths open on Anderson Parkway. Carnival opens at King Olav Parking Lot until 10 p.m. Entertainment at Kvelstad Pavilion.

11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Sons of Norway Lodge No. 44 Poulsbo Scandinavian Luncheon, upstairs. Open-faced sandwiches, pea soup, and baked goods. Members will also make lefse and krumkake.

11 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Poulsbo Sons of Norway Lodge Membership Drive Beer Garden.

2-4 p.m.: 45th Annual Parade, Downtown Poulsbo, sponsored by Central Market; featuring Miss Viking Fest and Little Miss Viking Fest, sponsored by American West Bank.

10-11 a.m.: Poulsbo Elementary Marimba group.

11-11:30 a.m.: Country Cloggers.

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Kitsap Kickers Line Dancers.

12:30-1 p.m.: KCMT.

1-1:30 p.m.: Belly Dancing by Calypso Ray.

2-4 p.m.: 45th Annual Parade. See above.

4:15-5 p.m.: Slieveloughane Irish Dancers.

5:15-7:15 p.m.: Music by Me & The Boys.

7:30-9:30 p.m.: Music by James Redfern.

SUNDAY, MAY 18
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: VolksSporters Walking Club 5K and lOK Fun Walk. Check in at information booth.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 42nd annual Poulsbo Noon Lions’ Pancake Breakfast, at North Kitsap High School. All proceeds benefit the Lions’ NKHS Scholarship Fund.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Sons of Norway Lodge No. 44 Poulsbo Video Presentation. Open to the public, free admission. Featuring four cultural films in the lodge’s Marine Room.

9/10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Food/Craft Booths open on Anderson Parkway. Carnival open at King Olav Parking Lot until 5:30 p.m. Entertainment at Kvelstad Pavilion. Viking Village and Suquamish Arts & Crafts open in MIW Waterfront Park.

9-10:15 a.m.: Viking Fest Stand-Up Paddleboard Race, 5-mile, Liberty Bay.

10:30-11 a.m.: Viking Fest Stand-Up Paddle Board Race, 1-mile, Liberty Bay.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Murder Mystery.

11-11:30 a.m.: Samara Dancers.

11:30 a.m. to noon: Parks & Recreation Circus Camp.

Noon-12:45 p.m.: Message-In-A-Bottle Race, Liberty Bay, sponsored by Liberty Bay Auto.

12:45-1:30 p.m.: Donut-Eating Contest, sponsored by Sluy’s Bakery. Sign up at the information booth. Three age groups. Limited space. Entry fee: children up to age 11, free; 12 and older, $10.

1:30-3 p.m.: Kupcake Krigen (Cupcake War) MIW Waterfront Park, sponsored by Marine View Beverage.

3-4 p.m.: Oyster-Eating Contest, sponsored by The Loft Restaurant. Sign up at The Loft Restaurant.

4-5 p.m.: Lutefisk-Eating Contest, sponsored by Peninsula Credit Union, Poulsbo. Sign up at information booth before 1 p.m. Entry fee: $10. Limited to 12 contestants, 18 years and older. Lutefisk donated by New Day Fisheries, Port Townsend. Lutefisk prepared by the Poulsbo Sons of Norway lodge.

5-6 p.m.: Event awards.
— 5 p.m.: Stand-Up Paddleboard Races.
— 5:10 p.m.: Kupcake Krigen Awards.
— 5:20 p.m.: Murder Mystery solved. King crowned. Arrest made. Prizes awarded.
— 5:50 p.m.: Message-In-A-Bottle Race.
— 6 p.m.: Booths and Entertainment close. Carnival closes.

EVENT PARKING
Downtown parking is limited.

Vehicles with disability placards can be parked at the Edward Jones Investment Offices, 19032 Jensen Way NE, or in front of the old city hall.

On May 17, park at the North Kitsap High School and Middle School campuses and ride the shuttle bus ($2 roundtrip for 6 and older).

On May 17-18, park at Gateway Fellowship Church or First Lutheran Church. Suggested donation: $5.
