POULSBO — A house guest was shot after allegedly raping a woman Feb. 16 in a home west of Poulsbo.
Marshaun Jeron T. Thompson, 32, of Poulsbo has been charged with third-degree rape. The homeowner shot him while on the phone with 911 dispatchers to report the rape of a 44-year-old woman, who was also a house guest.
While on the phone, the homeowner told dispatchers that Thompson was acting in a threatening while manner and shot him. The bullet entered Thompson's chest and exited his left arm, according to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office report.
After being shot, Thompson put on his shoes and left. Deputies found Thompson near the home, walking on the side of the road. He was taken to the hospital.
The homeowner told deputies that Thompson had had too much to drink and was offered the couch. Another guest, a 44-year-old woman, was offered a spare bedroom.
The homeowner told deputies that he awoke twice to noises after 2 a.m. He went downstairs both times. He said he heard Thompson in the spare bedroom with the woman, and what sounded like kissing noises. The homeowner told deputies that he heard the woman tell Thompson “no” and “stop, it hurts.”
The homeowner returned to his bedroom, told his fiancee and went back to sleep, believing that the situation would resolve itself, he told deputies. The female house guest later ran into their room crying, saying that she had been raped. The fiancee took the woman to the hospital.
The homeowner confronted Thompson, who told him that the woman came on to him, according to the sheriff’s report. “Naturally, I’m a man and didn’t stop,” Thompson allegedly said. The homeowner told deputies that Thompson became defensive and said he didn’t rape her.
The homeowner then called 911 and said that Thompson was being hostile and threatening, and refused to leave. He then shot Thompson.
Thompson allegedly told deputies he drank seven drinks. He said he was to sleep in the bedroom, not on the couch, and that the woman started kissing him and woke him up, according to the report. He said the sex was consensual. He did not know the woman’s name.
Thompson allegedly told deputies that the homeowner shot him for no reason, with a kitchen island between them.
The woman told deputies that Thompson woke her up, told her “shh,” and groped her. She said that she told Thompson to stop at least 20 times, according to the report. The woman allegedly told deputies that immediately after the incident, Thompson said to her, “I suppose you are going to say I raped you and I might was well turn myself in now.”
Thompson was being held Feb. 20 in Kitsap County Jail on $50,000 bail.
