Emergency shelter open Dec. 2-6; bus tokens available at Fishline, ShareNet, Helpline House

POULSBO — Evening temperatures will dip below freezing this week, prompting the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management to activate its Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

The shelter will be open Dec. 2-6, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 10 p.m.

The location:

Bremerton Food Line
1600 12th St.

The shelter will serve all residents of the area who require safe overnight refuge where none is available. Further activations will be weather dependent. Stay tuned.

If you need bus tokens so you can get to the shelter, contact North Kitsap Fishline, 18916 3rd Ave. NE, Poulsbo, 360-779-5190; ShareNet, 26061 United Road (off Bond Road), Kingston, 360-297-2266; Helpline House, 282 Knechtel Way NE, Bainbridge Island, 206-842-7621.

For the second year in a row, non-profits in Kitsap County have received a donation of bus tickets from Kitsap Transit. These are used to help homeless individuals get to shelter, DSHS, and doctor appointments.
