Silverdale woman charged with purse snatching

POULSBO — Sarah N. Gibbons, 28, of Silverdale, is charged in Kitsap County Superior Court with second-degree theft.

According to the report, on May 10, the owner of a business on the 19000 block of 8th Avenue noticed someone stole her purse from the office. She discovered someone used her checkbook right after the theft occurred; the suspect wrote a check to a toy store on 7th Avenue for $30, and another check for $422 in gift cards at a grocery store.

Gibbons was identified by her tattoos in surveillance videos and witness statements. She was interviewed in Kitsap County Jail on June 3, where she was incarcerated for another offense. Gibbons admitted to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy that she took the purse. According to the report, Gibbons said she was “down on her luck at the time” and sleeping in the building’s entryway.
