Monday is Earth Day, a nationally recognized day of action for a healthy, sustainable environment.

Environmentalists recommend celebrating Earth everyday — by turning off lights when not in use, using environmentally-friendly products, and recycling.

To join in the larger community effort, here are a few Earth Day celebration options this weekend.

Saturday
— Earth Day wildlife kayak tour: The Olympic Outdoor Center and Poulsbo Marine Science Center invite residents to learn about the local marine environment. It begins with a hands-on tour of the science center with Director Patrick Mus, followed by a basic paddling lesson and guided tour of Liberty Bay at Olympic Outdoor Center. This event is for all ages and all (or no) experience on the water.

Meet at the Poulsbo Marine Science Center, 18743 Front St., at 9 a.m. The event ends around 12:30 p.m. Cost is $55 adults, $35 youth. Registration is required.

Call the Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Recreation District, (206) 842-2306, ext. 118, or biparks.org, and reference class number 130748-01. More information is available at www.olympicoutdoorcenter.com, programs@kayakproshop.com, and (360) 297-4659.

— Arbor Day Celebration: Join Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson and the Poulsbo Tree Board in a celebration of trees. Residents are invited to help plant three trees at 10 a.m., at American Legion Park on Front Street in Poulsbo. Bring work gloves. For more information, call (360) 779-9898.

— T&C Earth Day Community Fair: Town & County Market on Winslow Way on Bainbridge Island is hosting its 14th annual fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature booths with local sustainability groups, activities for children, Zero Waste lunch, and Styrofoam and bubble wrap recycling. For more information, email bizerowaste@sustainablebainbridge.org.

Sunday
— Bainbridge Earth Day: Join Weed Warriors, Sustainable Bainbridge and Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Rec District for educational displays, native plant restoration and a walk on the beach, 1-3 p.m., at Pritchard Park on Bainbridge Island.

For more information, contact Wendy Westerlund at emgem36@msn.com; or Mike Mejia at mike@biparks and (206) 245-7317.

— Suquamish Cleanup: The Suquamish Tribe, the Suquamish Citizen Advisory Committee and Kitsap County Public Works invite volunteers to participate in a cleanup in Suquamish at 9 a.m. Meet at the UCC Church, 18732 Division Ave. NE in Suquamish.
