POULSBO An attempted U-turn on State Route 305 turned into a two-car accident just after noon Saturday, according to a Washington State Patrol report.
Merilee Nakao, 57, of Snohomish, was driving a 1990 Volvo northbound on SR 305 in the right lane, between Bond Road and Viking Way, when she made a sharp left turn in the middle of the road in what appeared to be a U-turn, troopers reported.
However, Nakao had turned in front of Rebecca Clifford, 36, of Bremerton, who was driving a 2002 Nissan Xterra northbound on SR 305 in the left lane, and the two collided.
Troopers found right front impact damage to the Nissan and left middle impact damage to the Volvo. Only Nakaos passenger, 19-year-old Rose Nakao, was noted as having possible minor head injuries. All three women were wearing seatbelts.
WSP troopers cited the cause as improper U-turn and charged Merilee Nakao with an infraction only.
