Parking lease extended through January
Washington State Ferries has been unable to secure a new management company for the Kingston parking lot at 1st Street and Ohio Avenue by Dec. 31 and has extended Kitsap Transits lease on the lot. Kitsap Transit has agreed to continue managing the lot and will collect a daily $4 parking fee through Jan. 27. WSF now plans to assume management of the Kingston lot Feb. 1.
Kitsap Transit will not remove the lots payment equipment until Jan. 30-31 and will not charge a daily parking fee at that time. KT will also honor the initial announcement that no daily fees will be charged Dec. 26-30.
January parking passes will be pro-rated to $53. Kitsap Transits customer service office will contact pass buyers who used automatic ordering to determine if they would like to order for January. For those who purchase with Pass-By-Mail, send only $53 for a January monthly parking pass.
Kitsap Transit will continue to accept parking coupons through Jan. 27 but the coupon books are no longer available for sale.
Registered rideshare vehicles not honored
WSF has decided it will not honor Kitsap Transit registered rideshare permits for free parking once they assume management of the Kingston lot in February. Rideshare signs will be removed in late January. Kitsap Transit will continue to renew registrations on request. For those who dont want to remain a registered carpool, simply ignore the renewal notice when received. For information about parking fees, lot operations and potential future rideshare considerations starting Feb. 1, 2006, contact the Washington State Ferries.
