Poulsbo man injured in

Agate Pass Bridge crash

SUQUAMISH — A Poulsbo man was injured during a two-car collision that snarled traffic near the Agate Pass Bridge Thursday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Poulsbo resident Charles Meisenheimer, 55, driving a 1989 Ford van, was attempting to turn left from a parking lot located on the south side of State Route 305, just west of the bridge shortly after 4 p.m. Sept. 22.

Traffic was stopped in the westbound lane on SR 305 and a driver flagged Meisenheimer to let him into westbound traffic lane. As Meisenheimer pulled out, an eastbound 1998 Volvo station wagon, driven by Brandon Carmichael, 33, of Gig Harbor, struck the van in the eastbound lane.

The van rotated 90 degrees before stopping and blocking the westbound lane. Carmichael’s car hit a guardrail and became stuck.

Meisenheimer was uninjured but Carmichael cut his left hand in the accident. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

WSP cited the cause as failing to yield right of way and Meisenheimer was cited with an infraction.
