The Free Daily will be printed in a commuter-friendly tabloid format, with a colorful front page, shorter articles and numerous photos, designed for people who want a more compact style. It will offer affordable buying options for area advertisers as well.

“A free daily newspaper is a natural extension of our brand and a way to appeal to different audiences, in addition to offering a variety of choices to the marketplace,” said Sound Publishing President Manfred Tempelmayr. “We have a successful track record of being the leading source of local community news in Kitsap County. Our new daily newspaper will complement the excellent newspapers we already publish.”

The Free Daily will bring late breaking news that is regional, national and international in scope, including sports, entertainment and business news. Sound will utilize Reuters News Service, an internationally-acclaimed organization with 197 bureaus in 130 countries.

Sound Publishing is Washington state’s largest private network of suburban newspapers, with 20 titles serving five counties around the Puget Sound region.
