Hansville bicyclist

dies in accident at

Bond and Gunderson

POULSBO — A 28-year-old Hansville man was killed Thursday night after he was struck by a truck while bicycling near the intersection of Bond and Gunderson roads, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The bicyclist was headed northbound on Bond Road, when a 1980 silver Datsun truck, driven by a 40-year-old Poulsbo man, hit him shortly before 9 p.m. The bicyclist was pronounced dead by medics who responded to the scene.

According to the report, the driver struck the bicyclist, and continued north, turned onto Gunderson Road and into a parking lot off Stottlemyer Road and fled on foot. Shortly after 10 p.m., WSP troopers found the man at the intersection of Bond and Rova roads.

Troopers developed probable cause to arrest the driver for vehicular homicide and a felony hit and run.

They are investigating alcohol and drugs as a factor in the collision. The suspect was booked into Kitsap County Jail no bail has been set.
