Poulsbo Police nab video store suspect

POULSBO — Poulsbo Police have arrested their first suspect in the April 28 robbery of Hollywood Video and have leads on the second, Sgt. Bill Playter reported Monday morning.

Armand R. Le Beau, 24, was apprehended last Thursday afternoon at an 18th Avenue residence in East Bremerton on the suspicion of first degree robbery, first degree theft and first degree kidnapping. He did not resist arrest, according to Sgt. Playter, who arrested Le Beau with assistance from Poulsbo Police Department Detective Grant Romaine and other law enforcement officials.

“We used discretion and one of us went to the front door and the other went to the back,” Playter said.

Le Beau is suspected of robbing Hollywood Video on 10th Avenue in Poulsbo, binding two employees with duct tape and stealing several thousand dollars in cash and checks from the store last week.

His suspected accomplice in the robbery, John W. Grantham, 20, also of Bremerton, is still at large. Grantham is described as being a white male, five-feet and ten-inches tall, 140 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

“There’s a warrant out for him right now,” said Playter, noting that Grantham has a prior criminal record. He also is suspected of threatening the two video store employees with a gun during the robbery and forcing them into a back room where they were bound. “He was armed at Hollywood Video and he may still be armed.”

Poulsbo and Bremerton officers also arrested a second individual when Le Beau was caught. That man, Playter said, was wanted as a suspect in other crimes in Bremerton. Le Beau is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
