"We received yet another study this week identifying the same key factor for a child's success at school. No, success isn't due to the right backpack, the in shoes, or any of those other essentials parents focus on in these last frantic shopping days before school is back in session. The single most important factor in a child's success at school is his family. If the child's family emphasizes to their student how much they value education and then backs it up with action--the student is more successful at learning. If you haven't talked with your student about school yet, this long weekend is a good time for a long conversation. Remind your student how important you believe education is. Assure them that you will be monitoring their homework and learning progress. Let them know you will stay in close communication with their teacher and volunteer at school during the year. Sure, it sounds so simple and basic, but the right support at home makes a big difference to your children's success at learning. "
