WHAT'S HAPPENING Kingston Pow Wow planned The Kingston Junior High Pow Wow will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. The Grand Entry will take place at 4 p.m. School Board meets next week The North Kitsap School District Board meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the school district headquarters on Caldart Avenue. After a 6:30 p.m. executive session to discuss real estate, the board will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss the potential of a future bond; to hear a formal presentation on Pearson Elementary's school improvement plan; and to hear reports on textbook adoption, new course proposals, and a technical plan update. Mr. Viking to be held Wednesday The Mr. Viking competition will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 in the community auditorium. It is open to the public, and admission will cost a donation of non-perishable food to be given to a food bank. Mr. Viking, billed as a Celebration of Unique Individuals, will highlight 10 high school boys who will showcase their funny and unusual talents. LINK (Leaders in North Kitsap) will host the event. KJH students of the week named KJH students of the week for the month of December included Dirdrei Helsing, Megan Harmon, Vincent Tucci, Jayson Stemmler, Sarah Franklin, Brian Parrott, Jenna Reed, and Nic Augustine from the seventh grade; Sarah Bagala, Dionne Corey, Brandon Hines, Patrick Riley, Tiera Hudson, and Sean Carlson from the eighth grade; and and Elizabeth Bloomquist, Heidi Myhre, Daniel Gallaher, and Nghia Pham from the ninth grade.     AT YOUR SCHOOLS CHRIST THE KING ACADEMY - The all-school science fair will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 23. Spelling bee finalists will be chosen in the next two weeks to compete in the Association of Christian Schools International in February. NORTH KITSAP HIGH - Second semester registration will begin Jan. 8, when seniors register in the library. On Jan. 9 juniors register, and Jan. 10 and 11, sophomores will register. The sophomore registrations will be half-days. HILDER PEARSON - A Books, Bits and Bytes session will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the library. KINGSTON JUNIOR HIGH - The Reflections 2000/2001 art contest will have its award ceremony from 7-8:15 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the commons. The awards ceremony will be for winners from all grades and schools. POULSBO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - There will be a PTSA meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the library. DAVID WOLFLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - There will be a Martin Luther King Day assembly Jan. 12. VINLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - The students will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m. Jan. 10 for the half-day. p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. WEST SOUND ACADEMY - There will be play rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 8 and 9; the garden club will meet from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, and at 7 p.m. that evening a speaker will talk to students about financial aid. Students will take a trip to see the opera Billy Budd on Thursday evening, and there will be more play rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 13 and 14. "
