IN OUR OPINION

"Bellringer reminds us Our favorite time of the year at the Herald is Bellringer season. For 49 years, we've been privileged to help gather the donations that go to families in North Kitsap. The late Frank and his widow Mabel Raab, Kitsap Bank and those faithful Poulsbo Noon Lions were the founders and now continue this particularly wonderful community tradition. In case you haven't been here for the holiday before, here's how it works. Stop by the Herald, (because we always look forward to seeing our old friends), or Kitsap Bank with your donation of cash or a check. We'll joyfully put your name, the name of anybody you wish to remember with the donation, and the amount you donated in the Herald. If you're feeling shy, you can always be anonymous. We hope to meet or exceed our goal of $20,000, just as we did last year. The funds collected are used to assist folks in North Kitsap with needs for food, rent, fuel, school supplies, and the basics we all need all year round. We're also collecting new unwrapped toys here, and in partnership with several other businesses in North Kitsap to be sure every child is remembered this year with a gift. So when you hit those sales this weekend, share your blessings. Look for a gift for a child in need and tuck away just a little cash for your Bellringer donation. You'll be glad you did. "
